BOURNE – Bourne selectmen have named Anthony Schiavi of Harwich as the new town administrator.
The selectmen made their decision on Saturday following a series of meetings and interviews with the finalists for the position.
Each candidate was interviewed for roughly an hour and a half, with sessions taking place at the Bourne Veterans Memorial Community Center.
After the interviews concluded, the board deliberated for about an hour and 20 minutes.
The selectmen also interviewed Robin Craver, former town administrator in Charlton, and Robert Whritenour, town administrator in Oak Bluffs.
Schiavi was chosen unanimously by the board.
Schiavi spent 30 years in the U.S. Air Force and served as town manager and police commissioner in Ashland.
He also ran for the Cape & Islands State Senate seat as a Republican in 2016.
He will succeed former Administrator Thomas Guerino, who’s contracted expired September 30th.
