FALMOUTH – A car struck a utility pole in Falmouth around 10 PM Friday. The crash happened in the 200 block of Thomas B. Landers Road not far from Geggatt Road. The driver was taken to Falmouth Hospital for evaluation. Thomas B. Landers Road was closed in the area due to the snapped pole and low hanging wires which started a fire. Everource crews were called to make repairs. The crash is under investigation by Falmouth Police. About 10:30 PM, Eversource indicated over 2,400 customers without power in Falmouth.
Update: Falmouth Police report that the sole occupant of the vehicle was transported to the hospital with apparent non-life-threatening injuries. Good Samaritans got the operator out of the car just before it went up in flames. The crash remains under investigation but speed, reckless driving and alcohol were all factors.
