HYANNIS – (with CCB) A driver was arrested after a late-afternoon crash in Hyannis. Barnstable Police tell Cape Cod Broadcasting that Jose Siguencia, 49, was spotted turning out from the Cumberland Farms on Route 132 at Bearse’s Way by another driver who noticed Siguencia allegedly operating erratically. Siguencia turned onto Lincoln Road where he took a wide left turn, clipped a telephone pole and ended up 60 to 70 feet into the woods. There was damage to his Ford Explorer’s front left tire. Barnstable Police Sgt. Riley was coming the other way at the time and reported Siguencia’s crash left a huge cloud of dust when it occurred. Police say Siguencia is an Ecuadorian national and does not have a license to drive in Massachusetts, a crime for which he has already been cited. Siguencia reportedly didn’t have command of English, so a Spanish-speaking officer administered a field sobriety test, which Siguencia reportedly failed. Siguencia complained of a bump on the head and was transported to the Cape Cod Hospital. At the hospital he was charged by Sgt. Riley for operating under the influence of liquor and operating without a license. He will be arraigned at a later date.
