HARWICH – A Harwich man is facing serious charges after an alleged domestic altercation.
Donald Syrjala, 43, is charged with attempted murder, two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and assault and battery after allegedly attacking his girlfriend on Sunday.
Syrjala allegedly threw a coffee mug at the victim and smashed her head against a wall in the kitchen. He then allegedly struck the victim in the head with his fish and held the victim down as he choked her.
Harwich police first went to arrest Syrjala at the house but he was not home. On July 7, Harwich Patrol Sergeant Adam Hutton, and Patrol Officers Derek Dutra and Keith Kannally found Syrjala and arrested him yesterday morning.
