TRURO – There was a wild scene at a campground in Truro. A Jeep Grand Cherokee was involved in a crash at the Adventure Bound Campground on Highland Road. The driver reportedly tried to leave but lost control and crashed into a tree around 1 p.m. The driver was taken to Cape Cod Hospital for evaluation. On Monday, Truro Police released the list of charges the driver is facing. James M. McAvoy, 25, of Truro was charged with operating under the influence of liquor (3rd offense), operating recklessly to endanger, operating after license suspended for OUI, unregistered vehicle, uninsured vehicle, possession of burglarious tools, and assault with a dangerous weapon. The exact circumstances of the crash are still unclear.
