The Ins and Outs of CBD Products – Courtesy of Instant Karma

Over time, the health benefits of CBD (cannabidiol) are becoming well established and proven. Although CBD products are still not yet regulated by the FDA, people are flocking to retailers and distributors to find natural, effective relief from a variety of conditions, like anxiety, migraines, fibromyalgia, menstrual cramps, arthritis, as well as the pain and other side effects of more serious illnesses, such as cancer, diabetes, Crohn’s Disease, Alzheimer’s Disease, epilepsy and many others.

Instant Karma in Hyannis carries a wide variety of quality CBD products in many forms, such as sublingual tinctures, edibles (candies, brownies, honey sticks, etc.), coconut oil that’s infused with CBD, bath bombs, pain cream, skin creams, cosmetics, and more.

Knowing what the right amount is for you can be confusing. Bob Schriber, owner of Instant Karma, can help answer all your CBD-related questions. For example, people often ask what the difference is between hemp oil and CBD oil. CBD can be extracted from either hemp or marijuana, both of which are part of the cannabis plant.

CBD is just one of the many cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant. Because marijuana plants contain high levels of THC, which causes a “high,” those who are looking for the potential benefits of CBD without the high or risk of intoxication should seek a hemp-based CBD product.

Additionally, it’s important to know that, while hemp oil contains CBD, hempseed oil does not. While hempseed oil has its place in cooking and skincare, it does not offer the health-related benefits of CBD that is extracted from the stalks and stems of the hemp plant.

“Since it’s not regulated by the FDA, everyone labels the bottles any way they want to,” he said. “Two companies can label it two different ways, which will cause confusion on the strength. The industry is often trying to cause confusion so that the consumers will impulse-buy their product. We’ve been selling (CBD products) for almost three years, and we’ve done all our research on the wholesalers and processers we use. It’s a positive thing for people to come shop with us.”

Schriber says a lot of people come in to him with their questions, because they want to educate themselves and know the ins and outs of buying a good, quality product.

Instant Karma also carries a line of products for dogs and cats which, he said, are really the same as the products for humans. The difference is, they use hempseed oil instead of coconut oil in the making of the pet formulas.

“This is better for the animal’s digestion,” Schriber said. “It’s flavored with catnip for cats and peanut butter for dogs. We have soft chews and biscuits for dogs, as well as actual jars of peanut butter infused with CBD for dogs. It’s a good variety of pet tinctures and treats. The dog biscuits are a best seller. They’re convenient and flavored.”

The pet products do the same for dogs and cats as the human products do for humans, he added. “For animals with arthritis and rheumatism … it’ll take care of that. For dogs that are overactive and might have separation anxiety, it’ll calm them, basically the same that it does for humans.”
