FALMOUTH – A two-alarm fire gutted a house in Falmouth early Sunday morning. The report of the blaze at 134 Carriage Shop Road came in about 3:20 a.m. Flames were blowing out of the house when crews arrived minutes later. The homeowner escaped safely and was evaluated by EMTs at the scene. Part of the building collapsed at the height of the fire. Firefighters took a defensive stand, fighting the fire from outside.
Mutual aid units from Mashpee and Cotuit were called to the scene to assist with Joint Base CC Fire and Bourne Fire providing stand by at Falmouth stations. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the State Fire Marshal’s office.
