Workers overcome by gas fumes at Mashpee school

MASHPEE – Workers were reportedly overcome by gas fumes at the Quashnet School on Old Barnstable Road in Mashpee. Firefighters rushed to the school around 10 AM. Students were moved to the Gymnasium and were all reported fine. They were eventually dismissed for the day. Two additional ambulances were called to evaluate the workers who were taken to a hospital for evaluation. Further details were not immediately available.

Statement from Mashpee Police: PLEASE BE ADVISED: Due to a gas leak, all students are being dismissed from the Quashnet School. All students are safe at this time. Please meet all students at their bus stops. Any students that cannot be dropped off with parents at bus stops will be bused to the High School. If your child attends the Boys and Girls Club, they will be brought there. If they attend adventure club, they will be brought to the Coombs School.
