Construction crew strikes gas line at Dennis Port resort

soundings signDENNIS PORT – Around 2:42 p.m. Wednesday the Dennis Fire Department received a report of a gas leak caused by a construction crew at the Soundings Resort at 79 Chase Avenue.

Upon arrival, crews found that a 2-inch gas line had been punctured. The on-scene commander immediately ordered the evacuation of the building with about 40 people involved.

The gas utility company, National Grid, secured the gas to the line at 3:14 p.m. and began making repairs. Dennis Fire terminated command at 3:20 p.m.
