Early morning drug raid nets two on Nantucket

– Nantucket Police report that a four-month-long narcotic investigation by detectives resulted in the execution of a search warrant at 7 Square Rigger Road at approximately 3:20 a.m. Thursday morning. Nantucket police detectives, SWAT team, police officers and the Cape Cod Drug Task Force participated in the raid.

While executing the warrant, a member of the SWAT team was bitten on the arm by a pit bull while making entry to the residence. The officer was transported to Nantucket Cottage Hospital where he was treated for multiple puncture wounds and released.

Once inside the residence, the SWAT team located and detained eight individuals including residents Daniel Washington and Caitlin Moore, both 26 years old. As a result of the search, a quantity of powder cocaine, crack cocaine and MDMA (commonly known as “Molly”) were seized. In addition to the narcotics, a large amount of cash, two digital scales, and numerous other indicators of narcotics distribution were located.

A third subject is also to be charged with distributing a Class B substance as a result of the investigation but was not on the premises at the time.

The investigation was aided by the members of the Cape Cod Drug Task Force, which is comprised of members of the Massachusetts State Police, Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office, and numerous Cape Cod area police departments.

Nantucket Police continue to actively investigate any drug dealing in their community and would like to thank those community members who have supplied tips and information regarding drug dealers’ activities on Nantucket.
