HARWICH – With a good laugh to start his retirement, Detective Sergeant David Jacek (right) is leaving after 38 years on the Harwich Police Department. Jacek was instrumental in starting the Citizen Police Academy, which just finished its 18th year. The purpose of the Academy is to provide citizens with an understanding of the duties, responsibilities and procedures related to the law enforcement profession. New Harwich Police Chief David Guillemette reminisced about his days at the police academy and being taught first-responder CPR by Jacek, who was an instructor there at the time.
