SANDWICH – Sandwich Firefighters responded to a deck fire on Easterly Drive late Saturday afternoon. Crews arrived to find heavy smoke showing from the rear of the house. An outside fire had extended to the deck and the rear of the house. Sandwich Fire officials say the home owner put ashes from a stove outside in wet leaves thinking it would be okay. Officials remind you when removing ashes to place then in dirt with no combustibles around and wet them down.
