Medical crews busy but no major problems at Carnival Parade

PROVINCETOWN
– Officials reported no major issues as tens of thousands descended on Provincetown Thursday for the 40th annual Carnival Parade. The theme this year was Mardi Gras by the Sea.

Provincetown Police were augmented by officers from several other towns. A Mass State Police helicopter could be seen hovering over the parade route. The helicopter would prove instrumental in warning beachgoers at Race Point of a shark about 20 years offshore (see related story here).

Medical crews were kept busy with multiple calls, many likely heat related. There was one call for a possible broken foot. Earlier before the parade a toddler reportedly fell overboard from MacMillan Wharf. The girl was quickly rescued and evaluated but appeared unscathed.

A couple of minor disturbances were quickly quelled by police. Provincetown Police report 1 arrest and 4 people were taken in for public intoxicationn.
