Yarmouth man arrested for heroin possession

– Yarmouth Police report that On Tuesday evening at approximately 6:30 p.m., Proactive Anti-Crime Unit (PACU) Officer Christopher VanNess observed Wyatt Maskell—a man known to him from prior encounters involving drugs—walking on Abells Road towards Higgins Crowell in West Yarmouth. This particular area has received numerous recent and on-going complaints about illegal drug transactions being conducted on foot and with vehicle traffic. Maskell walked through the pharmacy parking lot, across Route 28 and walk into the Gas station parking lot and into the store.

Maskell was acting suspicious and was encountered by PACU Officer VanNess and Yarmouth Police Drug Enforcement Detective Scott Lundegren which subsequently led to the recovery of a small folded white package of heroin on his person as well as a hypodermic needle and spoon.

Maskell was placed under arrest on charges of possession of a Class A substance and transported to Yarmouth Police Department Headquarters for processing. He was scheduled for arraignment in the Barnstable District Court Wednesday.
