Storm brings high winds, threat of coastal flooding

CAPE COD – A late season nor’easter is bringing high winds and the threat of coastal flooding to Cape Cod. Check this article for continuing coverage.

12:00 AM update: Wind gust to 56 MPH in Plymouth and 51 on Martha’s Vineyard. About 300 Eversource customers are without power in Orleans, with 150 in Falmouth and 66 in Centerville.

6:00 AM update: Wind gust to 69 MPH in Wellfleet and 67 MPH in Hyannis. About 220 customers without power in Brewster.

9:00 AM update: 73 MPH wind gust in Wellfleet! Falmouth Police are asking people to please avoid Menauhant Road in the area of Maravista while traveling . The roadway is impassable due to flooding, sand and disabled motor vehicles. Chatham Fire is reporting flooding in the Morris Island area. About 100 utility customers without power in Orleans.

10:00 AM update: Mashpee Fire are showing us the angry seas off their coast (above). About 725 utility customers without power in Hyannis with another 250 in Chatham. Route 28 at the Parker’s River Bridge  in Yarmouth is down to one lane.

11:00 AM update: Orleans Police report that Route 28 is closed between Cross Road and Tar Kiln Road due to flooding (above).

12:00 PM update: Eastham Police report that a few areas in town were affected by some minor flooding from today’s storm but there are no significant road closures and thankfully the tide is on its way back out. Eversource crews working to restore service. All previous outages except for Wellfleet have been cleared.
