HARWICH – Shortly after 9 AM Saturday, Harwich Fire-Rescue was alerted to a 2 car motor vehicle crash with unknown injuries and air bag deployment on Route 6 Eastbound in the area of Mile marker 79 between exits 9 and 10. The location of the accident called for an automatic line response from Dennis Fire of an Engine and Ambulance. Upon arrival 2 late model vehicles had been involved in a rear end collision with reports of non-life threatening injuries to all parties. Radio reports indicated children were involved and 2 Harwich Fire Ambulances would be required for transport to Cape Cod Hospital. All involved parties were evaluated by Harwich Medics and placed in the ambulances for transport. A small hazardous material spill was handled by firefighters while awaiting arrival of wreckers. Traffic in both directions was shut down for a short time by Mass State Police, assisted by Harwich Police. The scene was cleared and traffic began flowing normally in under 30 minutes. The accident is under the investigation of Mass State Police.
