“CBS This Morning” will air a profile of Cape and Nantucket pop princess Meghan Trainor on Sunday that will include footage shot last month when Trainor made a surprise appearance at her alma mater, Nauset Regional High School.
Trainor performed her hits “All About That Bass” and “Lips Are Movin’” for the entire school as the CBS cameras rolled. She answered questions from the kids about her career, strummed the ukelele, and posed for dozens of cell phone pics with the star-struck students.
The segment, airing at 9 a.m. will feature Meghan’s first TV interview since winning Best New Artist at the Grammys. It will explore how the young musician from Cape Cod morphed into one of the most successful singer/songwriters currently working.
The mulit-platinum pop superstar, released her latest single “NO” on Friday. Her second album “Thank You” is due May 13.
“’NO’ shows a different side of the singer altogether, illuminating the expanse and confidence inherent in her powerhouse voice while showing off her songwriting prowess,” her label, Epic Records, said in a statement. “Strutting between a nineties-style hip-hop bounce and an untouchable and unshakable chorus, it’s a feisty, fiery, and fun anthem that’ll get everybody singing.”
Trainor teamed up with producer Ricky Reed, who has worked with Jason Derulo, Pitbull and Twenty One Pilots for the track. Her album is executive produced by Meghan Trainor and Ricky Reed.
Trainor grew up on Nantucket but her family moved to Eastham when she finished middle school so that she and her brothers could attend Nauset Regional High.
