WEST BARNSTABLE – Cape Cod Community College will provide STEM-based, week-long summer programs for students entering grades 6, 7 and 8.
The programs will be held at the college’s Hyannis Center, 540 Main Street.
Each will focus on a different aspect of technology, from technical coding to more artistic applications.
First on the agenda, a Minecraft and Coding Week, from July 18 to 22. Students will create themes within the computer game Minecraft and learn to think critically about their accomplishments.
Next, a Flight Science Week from July 25 through 29 will see students build and fly a 10-foot tall air balloon, optimize model planes and enter flight simulators. This program will be located at the college’s West Barnstable Campus, 2240 Iyannough Road.
An Art/Tech Week from August 1 through 5 will focus on developing skills in Adobe design applications like Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator.
Lastly, a class from August 8 through 12 will focus on the “Maker Movement,” and allow students to construct and take home an Arduino-based robot. This program will also take place at the West Barnstable Campus.
All programs cost $275.
