HARWICH PORT – WE CAN, an advocacy group working on empowering women to make positive changes for themselves and their families, recently formed the Andi Genser Strategic Opportunities Fund, which honors retiring Executive Director Andi Genser.
An event held to fund the grant program was billed as part fundraiser and part retirement party, it raised $240,000, speakers included former State Senator Dan Wolf and WE CAN Board President Pam Kukla.
During her remarks Genser said “I’m touched by your presence and am grateful to all who have contributed to the establishment of this fund tonight.”
Diane Gauthier, Executive Director of WE CAN said “Eight years ago Andi set WE CAN on a course to evolve and with this fund we will mark her legacy by continuing to grow WE CAN’s capabilities and offerings to meet the ever changing needs of women in the Cape Cod Community.”
Among some of the the concerns the fund will address is purchasing new technology to upgrade evaluation and development capabilities, perform outreach in areas where WE CAN does not currently offer services and pilot new services and workshops.
The fundraiser took place last week at the Chatham Wayside Inn.
