HYANNIS – A focus will be placed on childhood survivors of domestic violence at Friday’s Independence House Community Breakfast.
The 16th annual event comes in conjunction with domestic violence awareness month, which aims to call attention to the issue of domestic and sexual violence. The Hyannis-based Independence House is a resource, counseling, and advocacy center for victims of domestic violence.
This year’s keynote speaker is William Kellibrew, a nationally-known advocate for children’s and victim’s rights. The program will also include a survivor speaker and a candlelight ceremony in honor of domestic homicide victims.
The event starts at 8 a.m. at the Double Tree by Hilton in Hyannis and runs until 10 a.m.
