Anti-Marijuana Advocates Issue Warning to Bourne Selectmen

Bourne Town Hall

BOURNE – Members of the anti-marijuana group “Opt Out Bourne” say that they’re prepared to fight a lawsuit aimed at opening the doors to recreational marijuana sales in town.

The group issued their warning to selectmen at a recent meeting, asking if the town was still conducting negotiations with the group looking to open a marijuana facility.

“I’ll tell you the consequences of that answer,” said group member George Seaver.

“It determines whether we are on the same side or on the opposite side. If we are on the opposite side, we have plans.”

Town counsel has told board members not to comment on the negotiations between the town and The Haven Center.

The Center is looking to open the facility on MacArthur Boulevard in the building that previously housed Cartwheels 2.

The business has declared their intention to expand into cultivation and manufacturing, as well as recreational marijuana retail sales.

“As a proven merchant of addiction and carcinogenic plant material, I find it reprehensible that any elected public official supports or condones the presence of Haven Center and its business model,” said group member Donald Hayward.
