Barnstable Board of Health Considering Changes to Interim Building Code

BARNSTABLE – The Town of Barnstable’s Board of Health is holding a meeting this afternoon and on the agenda is a proposal to modify existing regulations concerning nitrogen reduction in the town’s estuaries.

Interim development regulations enacted in 2009 would be rescinded for all areas of town except for the Craigville Beach Zoning District, which falls under the purview of the Cape Cod Commission.

Proponents of the change say it will spur development and economic benefits. Opponents say the move would allow for increased pollution, some have said a lawsuit could be filed if the change is made.

The meeting is scheduled for this afternoon at 3 p.m. at Barnstable Town Hall.
