Barnstable Releases Special Event on Town Property Guidebook

BARNSTABLE – The Town of Barnstable is inviting members of the public, local organizations, and community groups to learn more about utilizing municipal properties for their next function.

Town properties and facilities within the seven villages are available for use with an event permit that offers unique opportunities for event organizers.

The town recently released a Special Event on Town Property Guidebook containing procedures to assist with navigating through the permitting process.

In addition, beer and wine is now permissible for special events through an enhanced permit application for the Hyannis Village Green, Hyannis Harbor Overlook and the HyArts Campus buildings.

“Beer and wine does require a license through the licensing authority so there are some additional steps it’s just not an automatic approval,” said Barnstable Assistant Director of Planning and Development Liz Hartsgrove.

“But it is allowed now because we have been receiving feedback and comments and the town of giving it a try,” she said.

The properties are available for family gatherings, non-profit events, or corporate functions. To obtain your copy of the guidebook please visit www.townofbarnstable.us/TownManager.
