Blacksmith Shop Road in Falmouth Reopened for the Night

fire department patchFALMOUTH – The large mulch fire at the stump dump on Blacksmith Shop Road in Falmouth is continuing to burn but fire crews have stopped fighting it for the remainder of the night.

As a result the road, which was closed in the area of Thomas Landers Road, has been reopened.

Deputy Fire Chief Timothy Smith said crews will return to work on the mulch fire tomorrow but is not sure if the road will need to be closed.

Smith said the heavy equipment being used to move the mulch to get to the fire had to be shut down for the night.

Falmouth fire crews have been fighting the fire since last Monday.
