Cabaret Singer Returns to Cape for Cotuit Performance

COTUIT – A MAC and Bistro award-winning singer and actress will be performing on Cape Cod next month.

Dawn Derow, who grew up on Cape Cod, will present “My Ship: Songs from 1941” on Friday, September 7 at the Cotuit Center for the Arts.

My Ship was one of the standout New York cabaret shows of 2017 and earned Derow a MAC award for “Best Female Vocalist.”

The show taps into the 1941 “Hit Parade” with songs like “Chattanooga Choo Choo,” “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy” and “The White Cliffs of Dover.”

The show explores the emotional climate of the nation as it entered World War II and opens the audience’s hearts and minds to the women of that era, whether they were a “Rosie the Riveter,” a housewife raising children alone, a USO entertainer or a nightclub singer.

My Ship revisits the music that comforted and uplifted America until there was peace.

Tickets are $37 or $32 for balcony seating with a $5 discount for members and $2 discount for seniors.
