Cape Cod Bird Club to Host “Birds of Camp Edwards” Talk

Gray Catbirds (Dumetella carolinensis) are among the many species migrating south in the fall, which the radio antenna at Waquoit Bay will be tracking.

HYANNIS – Have you ever wanted to know what it was like to be a true ornithologist? If you answered yes, then members of the Cape Cod Bird Club would love to hear from you.

During this year’s free meetings, special guest and Natural Resources Manager for the Army National Guard Jake McCumber will talk to participants about the “Birds of Camp Edwards,” highlighting local bird monitoring efforts and results, habitat management, and how it all integrates with Army training.

McCumber’s career as a conservation biologist has included working for multiple state and federal agencies in Wyoming, Texas, and Massachusetts. This experience has provided him with a breadth of management and ecological experience, as well as a chance to work with a lot of bird species, and people.

Talks will get underway September 10th at 7 PM, at the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History located on Route 6A in Brewster.
