FALMOUTH – Olympians and Paralympians will be among the participants when the Cape Cod Curling Club hosts the 49th annual SummerSpiel in Falmouth during the month of July.
Curlers from Cape Cod and all over the country will compete against teams from as far away as Slovakia in mixed, women’s, men’s, junior and wheelchair tournaments.
The Summerpiel is the largest and oldest continuing offseason curling event in the world.
The event will kick off with the mixed (teams of two men and two women) competition from July 12 to 15, followed by the women’s bonspiel from July 15 to 18, the men from July 19 to 22, and the juniors from July 22 to 25.
The festivities will conclude with the international wheelchair bonspiel from July 25 to 29.
The SummerSpiel is free and open to the public from start to finish. Club members will be available to explain the game to those unfamiliar with the sport.
