Ceiling Leak Starts February Vacation Early for Wareham Middle School Students

Wareham Public Schools

WAREHAM – It looks like Wareham Middle School students are on February vacation a little early this year.

Students unexpectedly began their vacation on Wednesday due to a leak in the ceiling of the middle school, which also houses Minot Forest Elementary School students. The leak was caused snow and rainfall that had collected on the roof.

Wareham Public Schools says the leak has sent students home since Wednesday. With the district-wide February vacation beginning on Monday, the Superintendent’s Office expects middle school and Minot Forest students to be back in class following the break, on Monday, February 25.

After school activities at the two schools have also been cancelled due to the closure.

Some school officials have speculated that seagulls dropping shells onto the roof has also contributed to the damage which caused the leak.

All other schools within the district have no changes to daily schedules and activities.
