David Elwyn Clough, 53, of West Barnstable, MA passed away unexpectedly Monday, July 17, 2017. David is survived by his fiancé and soulmate, Heather Linnell, father, Arlo Clough of Texas, mother Donna Swift of Osterville, sister Debbie Clough of Marstons Mills, niece Samantha J. Campbell of Centerville, nephew Brandon Campbell, of Centerville, and stepchildren DJ Olsen, Bethann Cooper and Chanel Wilton. David graduated from Bristol County Agricultural High School, Class of 1982. After graduation he attended the farrier program at Cornell University in New York, which led him to a successful 35 year career. He spent a lot of time at the Rough Riders Club which developed into his passion for reining. He was very involved in the National Reining Horse Association where he competed and showed his skills with his beloved horses. His favorite event was free styling. David will always be remembered as an icon in the horse community. He was a devoted blacksmith and farrier who took pride in his work. He was a big hearted cowboy, always willing to drop whatever he was doing to help others. He enjoyed boating and fishing, and lived his life to the fullest. David has been a true friend to so many who will miss him dearly.
Calling hours are 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Monday, July 24th at John Lawrence Funeral Home, 3778 Falmouth Rd., Marstons Mills. A funeral service will be 10:00 am Tuesday, July 25th at the funeral home, followed by burial at Mosswood Cemetery in Cotuit. After the burial, the celebration of David’s life will be held at the West Barnstable Deer Club beginning at approximately 12:00 pm. All are welcome to attend.
