Early Morning 2-Alarm Fire in West Dennis

fire2WEST DENNIS – The Dennis Fire Department battled a two-alarm fire at a home on Bayberry Road early Saturday morning.

Dennis firefighters responded to 30 Bayberry Road at 2:20 a.m. to find heavy smoke and fire upon their arrival.

Crews from Yarmouth, Harwich and Brewster assisted in extinguishing the blaze.

There were four people in the residence at the time of the fire and were awakened by smoke detectors.

A father, mother and two children escaped the home uninjured.

One member of the Yarmouth Fire Department was transported to Cape Cod Hospital and has been released according to a Yarmouth fire official.

According to Dennis Fire Cap. Wayne Conlon, the fire started in the breezeway of the residence before spreading into the house.

Conlon believes the home is a total loss from heat and smoke damage.

Dennis fire officials could not determine the cause but do not believe it to be suspicious.

The fire was knocked down by 3:30 a.m. and crews remained on scene tunil about 4:30 a.m.

The home was a single family, one-story wood frame structure.
