First Annual ‘Ride for Homes’ Raises $50K for Habitat for Humanity of Cape Cod

YARMOUTH PORT – Habitat for Humanity of Cape Cod hosted the first ever Ride for Homes fundraiser in September.

The ride turned out 76 cyclists, who each raised funds from family members, friends, businesses and local places of worship. Participants raised $50,000 to help build more decent, sustainable, and affordable homes for Cape Cod families.

“It took months of planning, hard work and the generosity of many to make this event a reality. Ron and Nick had an incredible vision to start this event last year and they led a committee that has worked with passion and commitment,” said Director of Resource Development for Habitat of Cape Cod Wendy Cullinan.

“We thank them as well as the riders and the event day volunteers for their tireless dedication. Also, we are so grateful for the generous support of our Ride for Homes donors and sponsors.”

The ride consisted of two courses – a 40-mile and 10-mile route that begins and ends at the Aptucxet Trading Museum in Bourne. Team captains Ron Winner and Nick Harmansky led the cyclists through both courses.

The ride was sponsored by Coastal Mechanical, Mid Cape Home Centers, Shepley Wood Products, LL Bean, Hutker Architects, and the Malone Family.
