HARWICH – There are a number of events happening this month with the Harwich Conservation Trust.
On Saturday, naturalist and tracking instructor Todd Kelley will hold a workshop on how to identify wildlife and their tracks by interpreting the clues left behind by wildlife such as otter, fox, coyote, deer, skunk and even mink.
Workshop materials will be provided including a land mammal species checklist for Cape Cod.
The workshop takes place at Bell’s Neck Conservation Lands from 9 to 11 a.m.
On Saturday, October 24 from 10 a.m. to noon, Kelley will host a hands-on workshop on how to use a compass and read a map.
Participants will follow a course where they will get to apply practical reasoning and decision-making skills in land navigation basics in order to stay on track, even without a smartphone.
And on Wednesday, October 28, the conservation trust will host their Fall Wine Dinner at The Port.
Hors d’oeuvres and a three course dinner paired with choice wines, with selected wines and commentary provided by Orleans Wine and Spirits.
The event runs from 5 to 8 p.m. and tickets are $100 per person with all proceeds benefitting the HCT’s land saving work.
