HARWICH – For the first time, the Forbes Travel Guide has given a 5-star rating to a Cape Cod resort.
The Wequassett Resort and Golf Club in Harwich was selected to the 2016 list of the world’s standout hotels, which has been complied by Forbes since 1958.
Wequassett is one of just six new five-star resorts in the United States and is among 154 five-star destinations in the world, according to Forbes.
Forbes considers five-star properties to be “outstanding, often iconic properties with virtually flawless service and amazing facilities.” They need to be in desirable locations and have first-class amenities.
The 120-room resort is on 27 acres fronting on Pleasant Bay and features boating, tennis, pools and golf at Cape Cod National. The four restaurants are overseen by by executive chef James Hackney, formerly of Boston’s award-winning L’Espalier.
