Hyannis Open Streets Returns Sunday for Final 2019 Event

HYANNIS–The Open Streets event returns for its final iteration of 2019 on Sunday.

Hosted by the Greater Hyannis Civic Association in partnership with the Hyannis Main Street Business Improvement District and the Greater Hyannis Chamber of Commerce, the event will feature a Halloween-themed parade, a color run, live music, a kids zone, games, and other activities.

“The thing that makes it really special is that, through our wonderful sponsors, we’re able to offer the event free…It’s a great place to bring your families,” said Deb Krau, president of the association.

There were only two Open Streets events this year, as the April edition was rained out. Krau is hoping Sunday’s event does not meet the same fate, but is still excited for the future of Open Streets regardless.

“People are so appreciative of it, they really enjoy what we have to offer,” she continued.

“The merchants on the street cooperate beautifully. It’s wonderful, and we’re looking forward to next year also.”

The color run begins at 11:30 a.m. at the Village Green. Fun for all goes from 12 to 5 p.m. Main Street will be closed to traffic from Ocean Street to Sea Street.
