Investors Plan to Revitalize Main Street Buzzards Bay

BOURNE – Town officials in Bourne will start a site-plan review of the reconstruction of four Main Street properties across from Buzzards Bay Park in January.

Contractor Vincent Michienzi and Town Administrator Thomas Guerino recently met with Marriot Corp. representatives to discuss his development plans across from the park and the possibility of a hotel chain constructing a hospitality complex on his property.

Plans also include the revamp of a brewery on Main Street and the construction of a stage for tenants to use for outdoor entertainment.

“When a hotel comes in, economic development happens around that,” said Cape Cod Canal Region Chamber of Commerce CEO Marie Olivia.

“That’s been proven throughout the country, how you improve downtown revitalization efforts.”

The town wants Michienzi to conform to updated floodplain standards if he chooses to add more stories to his one-story stores.

The community is optimistic about Michienzi’s economic development and commercial makeover project for Main Street, which includes thai food, beer pizza and ice cream.

“We’re getting investors in that are actually going to rehabilitate these buildings and put some nice businesses in there,” said Olivia.

A site-plan review is scheduled for January 10th.
