Maria Mitchell to Host Winter and Spring Programs

NANTUCKET – The Maria Mitchell Association on Nantucket will host several programs and events through the remainder of winter and spring.

Explore the microscopic world of Nantucket Wednesdays March 13, April 10 and May 8 from 6 to 7 p.m.

Each session will have a different theme and will consist of a fun lecture with plenty of time to explore live specimens using a fleet of microscopes.

Participants will observe samples from all over the island including insect larvae, baby jellyfish, worms and more.

The program is for ages 14 and older and is $15 for members and $20 for non-members. Pre-registration is required.

The association will also host Open Nights at Loines Observatory.

Open nights are March 13 & 14 from 7-8 p.m.; and April 10 & 11 from 8-9 p.m.

Join professional astronomers for a tour of the starry sky and for telescope viewing of the moon, planets, nebulae, galaxies and more, weather permitting.

Open nights are free for members and $10 for non-members.
