Mashpee Votes On Marijuana Cultivation Business

MASHPEE – Mashpee selectmen approved a host agreement for a marijuana business with a vote of 4-1. Ocean Grown Canna Collective was approved to cultivate cannabis flowers and manufacture cannabis oil and tinctures at a warehouse building at 57 industrial drive.

The one vote against the host agreement was cast by town selectmen Andrew Gottlieb citing a lack of information as his reasoning. “We’re in the position of having to decide and give you our support before the Commonwealth, knowing essentially nothing”, said Gottlieb.

The host agreement will be the fourth that the town has given out.

Ocean grown has also agreed to give the town three percent of gross sales or at least three thousand dollars annually.

The town also made the marijuana company agree to not produce edible products.

“I think this industry has a great potential to actually add value to society in communities they operate in, so I think mindful companies that develop a relationship with whatever community their operating in can actually develop common goals”, said Ocean grown owner Jason Kabbes.
