BOSTON (AP) — State labor officials say Massachusetts’ unemployment rate fell to 3.6 percent in November as more jobs were added.
The jobless rate, down from 3.7 percent in the previous month, is now a half point below the national average which stood at 4.1 percent in November.
Preliminary estimates from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics show Massachusetts gained approximately 6,700 jobs last month, bringing to more than 65,000 the number of new jobs added in the state during the past 12 months. The seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate is up from 3.1 percent in November 2016.
State Secretary of Labor and Workforce Development Rosalin Acosta says the latest numbers point to a “strong and stable economy” in Massachusetts.
