HARWICH- As part of Pleasant Bay Community Boating speaker series Patrick Ramage, Director of Marine Conservation for the International Fund for Animal Welfare, will talk about one of the most majestic animals of the oceans, whales.
Topics of this discussion will include why so many are facing extinction and are struggling to survive. What is being done globally, nationally, and locally to help slow the loss of those mammals.
In cooperation with the IFAW’s Russia office, Ramage’s team is working to prevent the construction of an oil platform in the critical feeding and nursery grounds of the endangered Western Gray whale population.
His whale team is also working to improve understanding and protection of whales locally within the Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary off Cape Cod, an important feeding ground for many marine mammals including the critically endangered Right whale, and more.
The event is free of charge and open to all members. The talk will take place this Friday June 29th, from 4:30 – 6:00 pm, at the Hillside Center at PBCB in Harwich.
Non-Members must register with PBCB before attending.
