Barnstable Looking to Create ‘Shared Use Path’

BARNSTABLE – The Department of Public Works in the Town of Barnstable is inviting the public to an information meeting about a proposed shared use path.

It would be located along the west side of Bearse’s Way between Route 28 and Pitcher’s Way in Hyannis.

The proposal is for a 10-foot wide paved surface for the use of pedestrians, bicyclists, non-motorized modes of transportation and assisted mobility devices.

There would be grass or other vegetation between the path and the road and  Lighting would be installed as needed.

It would connect two existing shared use paths.

The meeting is scheduled for Wednesday at the Barnstable Senior Center on Falmouth Road in Hyannis at 7:00 p.m.

Depending on funding and other factors, construction would commence either this year or next. The town is hoping for funding from the state.
