Truro Roadway Improvements in the Works

BOSTON – The Massachusetts Department of Transportation will begin advertising for contractors before the end of the summer for upcoming work on Route 6 in Truro as part of the state’s ongoing efforts at improving the roadway in that area.

This phase of the project includes improvements to bicycle accommodation to the route 6A and Shore Road intersection.

The project design is now at 100% and was completed by MassDOT engineers. THe estimated cost of the construction is $1,200,000; it is anticipated that 80% of the funding will come from the Federal Government and 20% from the Commonwealth.

MassDOT will now review public comments before advancing design to the final stage.

The agency will oversee the construction phase of the project and will continue to work with project stakeholders including Outer Cape Communities, the Cape Cod Commission, the Metropolitan Planning Organization, Department of Conservation and Recreation and the Cape Cod National Seashore as the work progresses.

The project is expected to be complete in the spring of 2019.
