SANDWICH – Sandwich officials are looking into the health of Wakeby Pond and Peters Pond.

Swimmers have been advised through posted signs that cyanobacteria was recently observed in the local area.

Cyanobacteria can make people sick through ingestion. These algae blooms can also be fatal to pets.

Town officials added that they’re continuing to monitor the situation at both ponds and that further updates will be provided when available.
