PLYMOUTH – Plymouth and Barnstable State Senator Vinny deMacedo has been named co-chair of a Senate task force that is focused on strengthening Massachusetts local retail.
The task force will work with the Senate to identify ways to help local retailers become more competitive.
“I look forward to working with my colleagues in the Senate, local business owners, and industry experts on this important endeavor,” said deMacedo.
Senate President Stan Rosenberg and Senate Minority Leader Bruce Tarr appointed a number of Senators to the task force, including Cape and Islands State Senator Julian Cyr.
The task force will address a number of key factors, including challenges faced by local retailers in competing against online sellers, closures of local retailers and how state and local governments can encourage purchases from local retailers.
The group will then report back to the Senate President and Senate Minority Leader by June 1, 2018.
