Steamship Authority to Present Review Findings in Island Meetings

FALMOUTH – The Steamship Authority will host public meetings on the Islands next week to present the results of a comprehensive review of the ferry services operations.

The HMS Consulting, Glosten Associates and Rigor Analytics report covers the topics of vessel operations, fleet maintenance, management structure, I-T systems and public communications.

The assessment was commissioned after a series of mechanical failures last spring and summer that caused disruptions and cancellations.

The sessions are Monday at 5:30 p.m. at Nantucket High School and Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School.

HMS Consulting President John Sainsbury will attend both sessions to present the findings of the report and answer questions from the public. Steamship Authority General Manager Robert Davis will also update the public about its progress to date on implementing the recommendations of the report and answer questions about future plans.

The December 2018 report and its February 2019 supplement, along with additional information, can be found at steamshipauthority.com/about/news.
