Summer Events Continue at Center for Coastal Studies

PROVINCETOWN – The Center for Coastal Studies in Provincetown is continuing a season of special events.

The inaugural Celebration of the Sea Photo Contest exhibit will run from July 21 to August 11 at the center.

Submissions of photos that are framed and ready to be hung at CCS must be made by July 21.

Images will be judged anonymously by a juror experienced in the field of nature and wildlife photography. Prizes will be awarded for winning images in both landscape and wildlife categories.

An opening reception will be held July 29 from 1 to 4 p.m.

The center’s 9th annual Whale Week runs from July 28 through August 3.

The week is filled with special events to raise awareness about our ocean and coastline, marine mammals and marine debris through engaging educational activities.

Events include the Run the Trails for the Whales 5K and the Homemade Boat Race.

A Meet the Author event will be held July 29 at 2 p.m.

Sandy Macfarlane will present Swirling Currents and sign copies of her book.

Macfarlane explores the depths and dynamics of our changing coastal and marine communities. She examines these subjects in an engaging narrative of personal stories and scientific investigation which both educates and entertains.

The event is free and will be held at the center’s Marine Lab on Holway Avenue in Provincetown.
