DENNIS – The first of two recounts for the new Dennis-Yarmouth school vote was completed Thursday in Dennis and ended with three additional no votes.
That reduces the margin of victory for the school to just 29 votes pending a recount in Yarmouth, which will be conducted Friday.
The final tally in Dennis was 1,361 votes for and 879 against.
The unofficial results in Yarmouth from the December 4 election was 1,955 against and 1,502 for.
The proposed school would cost roughly $117 million and house 4th through 7th grade students in the district.
The plan also calls for closing the Mattacheese Middle School in Yarmouth.
The recount was requested by opponents of the expenditure.
