ROXBURY — Three of Dennis-Yarmouth’s best took home dual first- and second-place finishes last night at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center to pace the Dolphins to a pair of victories.
The Dolphins defeated Falmouth, 76-24, and Norwell, 73-21, thanks in large part to the efforts of Hiroto Watanabe, Arun Rambhadjan and Mike Dunn.
Watanabe captured second place in the one-mile run with a time of 4:47.64 and first place in the 1000-meter run at 2:58.49. Rambhadjan captured first place in the 55-meter dash at 6.62 and first place in the 300-meter dash at 37.23. He finished just ahead of D-Y teammate Mike Dunn in the 55-meter dash — Dunn took second place at 6.73.
D-Y’s Max Parent came in fourth place overall, but ahead of his Falmouth and Norwell opponents in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 9.52. D-Y took another overall second place finish in the 4×200 relay, but ahead of Falmouth and Norwell’s teams, too. The Dolphins’ relay time was 1:38.65.
Dunn came in fifth place overall, but ahead of Falmouth and Norwell opponents in the shotput with a throw of 44’2″. Dunn’s long jump of 18-09.25 was good enough for third place overall and first ahead of Norwell and Falmouth. Ryan Powell ran a 1:38.57 in the 600-meter race, good enough for 8th place overall, but also, ahead of Falmouth and Norwell.
Sandwich High School’s James Hemingway finished in third place overall in the two-mile race, but ahead of D-Y and Norwell with his time of 11:33.86.
Falmouth High School’s Tristan Leachman notched a 5’7: high jump to tie with D-Y’s Rambhadjan.
The Nauset and Falmouth boys went 0-2 on the day. The Sandwich boys went 2-0 and Mashpee’s boys went 1-1.
The Mashpee girls also went 1-1, but Falmouth girls and boys went 0-2, as did the Sandwich girls. Nauset’s girls went 2-0 but complete data was not made available by publication deadline.
