My Year in Review

On behalf of Ralphie and myself we thought we would do a 2016 year in review… and highlight some of the fun events and charitable events we hosted and participated in here on The Cape.

To start off 2016…I continued my weight loss program and by the end of 2016 I had lost 70 pounds and I’m still going strong!

In March, Matt Pitta I hosted The “Jeans and Jewels Jubilee” at Sea Crest in Falmouth. All the funds raised went to support the Cape Cod Center for Women. The only confidential domestic violence shelter for individuals and their children on the Cape and the Islands. It was so gratifying to help raise money for such a great cause.

Also in March I hosted The 13th Annual “Girl’s Night Out” at Puritan Cape Cod. It was all for a great cause…to raise money for WeCAN. Women’s Empowerment through Cape area Networking. Ralphie made sure he came by to support me at this important event.

In May, Ralphie and I hosted our annual Mothers Day Lunch at Alberto’s in Hyannis. We had over 50 women join us for delicious food, entertainment and psychic readings from our local friend psychic medium Rachel Perry. Rachel also joins our show every month. We love her!

In the Summer Ralphie and I emceed golf tournaments and brushed up on our own golf games! We need a lot of brushing up!!!

In June, Ralphie and I hosted “999 The Q’s 80’s Prom” we had hundreds of Q listeners dressed up as their favorite 80’s musical artists and 80’s characters. It was a complete success! You can look forward to another one this summer!

Also, in the summer we invited our listeners to opening of the new “Whydah Pirate Museum” in West Yarmouth. We were so happy they chose us and the “Q” to promote their Grand Opening! It was fantastic!

We also did a summer of Friday night parties at Baxter’s in Hyannis. Great crowds and a wonderful time overlooking the water! A great way to kick off weekends on The Cape!

In October Ralphie and I hosted an event with nationally recognized medium Suzane Northrop at the Irish Village in West Yarmouth. The event was a complete success!

In November Ralphie and I attended an awards dinner hosted by the Massachusetts Broadcasters Association…and to our surprise The “Karen and Ralphie Morning Show” won the Merit award. We couldn’t be more thrilled to be recognized by our peers. It was one of the highlights of 2016!

Ralphie and I also participated in a few parades on and off The Cape in 2016. I think the most rowdy one was The Provincetown Parade which took place in August. It was an 80’s theme this year.

Ralphie dressed up as Richard Simmons and I had my Cyndi Lauper garb on! Also, every year we are in the Plymouth Parade. This year we were in an antique car. We got noticed that’s for sure.

Thousands of people lined the streets of Plymouth for their annual Thanksgiving Parade! We had a ball! Then in December were in the Falmouth Christmas Parade…such a festive way to kick off the holiday season.

To round out 2016 we hosted a holiday lunch for some of our listeners at “Gourmet Garden” at Wareham Crossing. The food was cooked right in front of us and it was fabulous!

To cap off 2016 we partnered with Child and Family Services of Cape Cod to help make local families’ holidays a little brighter. Over 200 families were sponsored by some very generous and caring Q listeners. Our lobby at Cape Cod Broadcasting was filled with toys, clothes, bicycles and more. So many families had a merry Christmas this year because of our “Christmas Wishes” Campaign. We will be doing it again in 2017 you can count on it!

So as we sit and reflect on 2016 we are happy that we were able to entertain people…help people and meet new people every single day on Cape Cod!

We intend to do that and more in 2017! Feel free to tell your friends about the “Karen and Ralphie Morning Show” weekdays from 6-10am on 999 The Q! We would love it!
