Great White Shark “Scratchy” Back Off Monomoy

CHATHAM – A shark tagged by the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy in 2015 has returned to an area just off Monomoy.

“Scratchy” was first identified in 2014 and tagged in 2015.

State shark expert Greg Skomal said on social media that Scratchy was detected in Shark Cove on June 2.

It’s the fourth year in a row the shark has returned to the waters off Cape Cod.

Skomal and the Conservancy have been conducting a white shark study for the past several years.
