HYANNIS – Hyannis Main Street will be busy this weekend with the annual Village Christmas Stroll.
Events kick off on Friday with the ninth annual “Spectacle of Trees” at the JFK Hyannis Museum and “Breakfast with Santa” takes place on Saturday morning at the British Beer Company.
Santa arrives at noon Saturday by fire truck in front of Rockland Trust and there will be free activities throughout the day on Main Street, including international food sampling, caroling and free Duckmobile rides.
“It’s evolved into a one day period with so much activity,” said Hyannis Main Street Business Improvement District Executive Director Elizabeth Wurfbain. “It really represents our downtown. We have school children coming and older couples coming. Everybody convenes onto Main Street for this community event.”
The Hyannis Public Library will have their hat and mitten tree up, where they will be accepting winter weather donations of- hats, gloves, mittens, scarves, sweaters or jackets to benefit adults and children in the local community in need.
For the second year, the Main Street Holiday Stocking Raffle takes place, which allows shoppers a chance to win one of the Main Street Holiday stockings for every $25 spent on the day of the stroll.
“It’s our own community, with the décor that represents what Cape Cod is all about,” said Wurfbain. “That’s why we love the Hyannis Christmas Stroll.”
